1st XI Cricket Tour 2019

The 1st XI had another enjoyable tour of the West Country in 2019. Unfortunately, our fixture against Clifton Prep and opportunity to meet up once again with the Barnes family was scuppered by the poor weather. Undeterred, we had a relaxing evening at the cinema in preparation for our fixture the following day against Dauntsey’s in Wiltshire. Batting first did not go quite to plan as Cranmore were dismissed for 83 with only R.Proctor making a significant contribution. However, it was with the bowling and fielding that we really excelled. T.Bull bowled an outstanding opening spell and this was well supported by A.Wood who claimed three wickets. Dauntsey’s eventually all out for 57.

On the Sunday we travelled to the picturesque Prior Park School in Bath. Cranmore fared slightly better in the batting with a total of 116 on a difficult pitch. T.Bull once again performing well scoring 43. In reply Prior Park were up with the run rate but the introduction of B.Cooper, ably assisted by wicket keeper J.Fortescue, curtailed their chase.

Despite the weather this was another successful tour which should prove valuable experience for the remaining fixtures of the term.
